Description
Reltec’s DISC*S is a Next Generation Digital Loop Carrier (NGDLC) system that provides POTS and special services via metallic or fiber distribution plant. The services can be supported by the electronics in either a universal or integrated configuration. Transport facilities between the central office and the remote location are DS1 level and can be provided by separate fiber multiplexers or copper T1s.
Supervisory System A controlling computer system; one is required for every 16 COTs
Central Office Terminal Provides universal services and an interface to the Supervisory System
Digital System Cross Connect (DSX) A bay or panel to which T1 lines and DS1 circuit packs are wired and that permits cross-connections by patch cords and plugs
Transport Facility Fiber or copper DS1
Remote Terminal The distribution interface; can be Remote Digital Terminal (copper) or Host Digital Terminal (fiber)
Distribution Facility (ONU) One single-mode Fiber/Optical Network Unit; copper to crossbox/customer; 12 or 24 derived pairs per ONU
