Can I Run the Lessons Using the Internet?
- At the moment, the large animation and high-quality sound files incorporated into the Fundamentals lessons are not realistically usable with current user-end bandwidth (including higher bandwidth cable modems and DSL lines). We are, however, striving to utilize more internet-friendly methods, which, when coupled with a general increase in user-end bandwidth, will allow us to offer internet deliverable versions with our standard series packages in the future.
The CD makes a chattering noise and the lesson runs very slowly.
- Problem: This has happened with copies of our discs that were sent out with adhesive labels. Extended use will sometimes cause the labels to lose adhesion and curl at the edges. This interferes with the drive and makes the noise.
- Solution: Inform Delta T of the problem and return your CDs. We'll send you a new set. (All disks now have the label information printed directly on the disk).
Program will not run, and reports an error of "sound output device not found."
- Problem: There are three possibilities:
1. The computer being used to run the lesson does not have a sound card or integrated audio device.
2. You have a very old version of a lesson.
3. You have an unusual Windows installation. This problem is extremely rare, occuring if a computer does not have a "Windows" or "WinNT" folder. (These folders are the default directories for Windows system information). The program looks in these folders for the "system.ini" file, which contains configuration information such as whether the computer has a sound card installed. If these folders do not exist, then the program will not be able to read the system.ini file and will generate an error.
- Solution: In either case, simply exchange your CDs for the latest version(s) which will avoid this problem.
Lessons will not save record files on the server/admin computer.
- Problem: This is most likely the result of a network misconfiguration or a missed step in the setup process. See the next item for other records related problems and solutions.
- Solution: Refer to the last paragraph in "How the Lessons Store Student Records" here:
http://deltatraining.com/content/support/recordstorage.html, and see the next item for additional information.
Miscellaneous records problems: incorrect records for students, scores not recording properly, unusual records files appearing (eg: "+" or "StockPrep_data.txt"), etc.
- Problem: Several updates to the lessons and to the supplementary Helm program have been made to correct problems with the records-keeping functions. If you are experiencing problems such as these, please contact us, and we will issue new copies of the lessons to you that will fix these problems.
I need to change the location where the records are stored.
- Problem: Once the folder for the records storage is selected once, neither the lesson nor Delta Helm will ask for the folder again.
- Solution: Consult the User's Guide for the procedure on resetting the records location path.
I can't register the program. The program won't accept the registrant or CD-key.
- Problem: It is likely that the registrant name or password has not been entered correctly or the supplied password is not correct.
- Solution: Enter the the registrant name and password EXACTLY as they are given (the program defaults to capital letters). Be sure to include the "DTAA-" prefix, including the dash; the CD Key will not work without it. If this does not solve the problem, contact Delta Training.
When I started the program, the error "Xtra failed" or "Xtra not found" appeared.
- Problem: Either an Xtra (a 'driver' required by Authorware to display or play a type of file such as a .jpg or .avi) was corrupted or left out completely when the lesson was burned to the CD.
- Solution: Contact Delta Training, and we'll either email you the missing Xtra files and walk you through which folder to put them in, or exchange out your CDs for updated versions.
"Are the Fundamentals lessons compatible with other tracking programs?"
- Problem: The Fundamentals lessons are "compatible" in the sense that the Fundamentals software can co-exist with the other manufacturers' training or administrative software on the same machine without conflict. "Compatability" in the sense of integration with third-party tracking software to launch and track Fundamentals lessons is determined on an case by case basis.
- Solution: The Fundamentals lessons CAN be integrated into Traccess and Optimas as is. Integration into other training or administrative programs will be carried out as a time and materials customization.
I'm on an INTRAnet and want to run the executable (.exe) from my browser. I created the web pages in MS Front Page and am getting an error that says file type(s) not recognized (xtras with .x32 extension are not found).
- Problem: Front Page creates duplicate "underscore" folders in the "Xtras" and other folders (located in same directory as the .exe file) and places duplicate files within.
- Solution: Erase the new folder that is created inside the "Xtras" folder by FrontPage. There cannot be duplicates of the xtras in the "Xtras" folder.
I keep getting an error that says the file AWIML32.dll is not found"
- Problem: The program is looking for a quicktime-based .dll file that is required by an unnecessary Xtras file (animgif.x32) and cannot find it.
- Solution: 1. Get a newer version of our program that does include the AWIML32.DLL file (in the .exe directory). 2. Delete the animgif.x32 file from the Xtras folder in the lesson.
Authorware performs an illegal operation as soon as the lesson begins (after the main menu)
- Problem: Some video adapters or drivers (eg: ATI mobility) will cause a crash in Authorware when transitioning a graphic on a display set to 16-bit color depth or lower. We have isolated the cause of this problem and the new versions of the lessons have addressed this.
- Solution: 1. Using the computer's display properties, increase the color depth to 24 bit or higher. 2. Contact Delta Training to exchange your CDs for the latest version(s) which will avoid this problem.
